For the first time in his college career, all-conference libero Billy Ebel won a weekly conference award.
The senior on the Ball State University men's volleyball team was named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Associate Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Ebel led Ball State in digs in each of team's three matches last week, including a match-high 15 digs in victories against Carthage College and the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Coach Joel Walton said he was not surprised the libero won the award, especially following Ebel's 15-dig performance in Ball State's sweep against Milwaukee School of Engineering.
'It's not very often you have someone dig an average of five balls a game, and those are pretty incredible numbers,' Walton said.
Loyola outside attacker Mike Bunting was named the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week.
