NASA astronaut Richard Linnehan is the winter commencement speaker for the Saturday, Dec. 19 ceremony.
During the 10 a.m. ceremony at Worthen Arena, Linnehan will address more than 1,100 graduates.
Linnehan has had a 17-year NASA career with the Johnson Space Center and spent close to 60 days in space. His latest mission was on the spaceship Endeavour's March 2008 voyage.
Linnehan has also been a staunch supporter for Ball State's Human Performance Laboratory, according to a Ball State Communications press release.
"We look forward to bestowing Dr. Linnehan with an honorary doctor of science degree in recognition of his impressive national and international professional achievements, his dedication for improving the lives of both humans and animals and to honor his productive relationship with our faculty and students," Ball State President Jo Ann Gora said in the press release.
