Ohio photographer Dave Liggett will be the featured artist at the Artist Within for the month of September.
The gallery will have the First Thursday opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight. The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 26.
Liggett's photography combines travel and features landscapes, animals, people and decaying buildings.
Some of Liggett's photography has been published by National Geographic Kids magazine and The New York Times.
ArtsWalk, which is traditionally the first Thursday in October, will be held in conjunction with the Governor's Arts Awards. This year is the first time the award presentation will be held in a city other than Indianapolis. The award ceremony will be held on Sept. 25 at Cornerstone Center for the Arts.
Local artist makes downtown debut
Muncie jewelry maker Cinda Dior will be featured at the First Thursday artists' reception from 5 to 8 p.m. at Gallery 308, marking her downtown art debut.
An Arizona State University alumna, Dior makes art out of recycled clothing materials that she rips up and remakes into wearable art.
