Coming off its first tournament victory of the spring season, the Ball State University women's golf team looks to win its second straight.
The Cardinals have finally been able to practice out on the golf course, and they look to turn the two weeks of practice into a another first-place finish Monday.
The Southern Illinois Saluki Invitational takes place Sunday and Monday and consists of two rounds. The team goal, sophomore Brittany Kelly said, is to shoot less than 300 in a round as a team.
Sophomore Rachael Pruett said she likes Ball State's chances of winning the tournament. She is not the only Cardinal feeling confident going into the Saluki Invitational.
"The field this week is not as strong as [the other tournaments]," junior Kirsty O'Connor said.
The field is made up of schools from the surrounding states - Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Kentucky - and lacks the top ranked team, unlike Ball State's earlier tournaments this season.
With the preparation the first two weeks of outdoor practice have provided for the Cardinals, senior captain Sarah Windlan said the team is starting to improve just in time for the tournament.
"We are ready to win, and we are bonding as a team more than ever," she said. "I am so proud to be a part of a good team with great teammates."
