St. Patrick's Day falling on a Tuesday did not stop students from celebrating in green flair and with green beer.
Doc's on Dill assistant manager Katie Cambell said she was surprised by the bar's St. Patrick's Day turnout.
"I couldn't believe how many Irish people were celebrating on a Tuesday after having a week off," Cambell said.
She said both Doc's venues were packed to the brim.
"We had three really good bands that came in," Cambell said. "I'm just so surprised [by the number of people]."
To get students out to the Village, the American Advertising Federation teamed up with Village bar owner Myles Ogea and the Village Merchants Association and put on a last-minute pub crawl, Jeff Renoe, senior advertising major and AAF president, said.
Renoe said he stood at the Scramble Light on Tuesday passing out pub crawl fliers and telling students about the event in the Village.
"[Students said] I don't come to the Village, but I came out because you were here," Renoe said.
The pub crawl included Doc's on Dill, the Mad Hatter, Dill St. Bar and Grill, MoTini's, the Chug and a new bar called Mugley's Pub and Eatery.
Renoe said the pub crawl was a way to generate student interest in the Village. AAF was asked to plan the unofficial after-party of the McKinley Mile bike race at Doc's on Dill. He said Ball State was trying to compete with Indiana University's Little 500.
"Ball State doesn't have that thing yet," Renoe said. "We think it's a university that can do that."
