WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals maul Bobcats

The Ball State University women's basketball team finished off its last Mid-American Conference East division opponent with an 80-72 win against Ohio University on Saturday in Worthen Arena.

The Bobcats took the lead early with a 3-point basket but junior guard Audrey McDonald hit back-to-back threes to take the lead, which the Cardinals (17-8, 9-2 MAC) never relinquished. The Cardinals led by as many as 20 points late in the first half.

Coming into the game, coach Kelly Packard wanted her team to limit its turnovers. In a win against Kent State University on Wednesday, the Cardinals turned the ball over 23 times.

"We really have been in a high number the last several games with our decision making, which is again my kinder way of talking about the TO column," Packard said. "I went into the pregame and told them that I could probably swallow somewhere between nine and 11 turnovers."

Ball State finished the game with ten turnovers.

"That's where my eyes always go, so that's good progress for us on the offensive side. That was a good step forward," Packard said.
