The junior finished the 100-meter freestyle in 48.85 seconds during the prelims of the championship meet, which was Ball State's fastest time of the season. He also had a personal-best time in the 50-meter freestyle during the prelims at 20.56 seconds.
Battjes had a career-best time of 1:01.10 in the 100-meter breaststroke at the MAC meet. He also swam the first leg of the 400-meter freestyle relay for Ball State, which finished ninth with a time of 3:03.95.
