Student group stands on own for economic policy change

Arguments about the economy broke out at Let's Stand's Tuesday evening meeting.

The group formed, by senior Cody Willis, was put together to come up with a business plan to change economic policy.

Willis said five students attended the meeting. Small arguments broke out because people were opening up their minds and sharing ideas, Willis said.

The students that came to the meeting were interested and plan to return next week, Willis said.

He said he was approached by interested students while he hung fliers around campus. Many students gave him their phone numbers.

Willis stressed that he did not want his student group to be an official student group on campus.

"This will be our group and we'll make change the way we want to make it," Willis said. "None of this bureaucratic bull crap. No politics."

He will continue to advertise with fliers and through his Facebook group. Willis will also use T-shirts to advertise Let's Stand.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 p.m. in Rm. 401 of Bracken Library. Willis said the meeting will discuss what's wrong with the economy and stimulus package and how to make it better.
