The Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Council will begin collecting money Friday to help support two sponsored children from outside the United States.
The council began sponsoring one boy and one girl Feb. 3 and will continue to do so until both children reach the age of 18, according to a PHC press release.
The money sent to the children will go toward their food, water, clothing and medicine. The medicine covers HIV and AIDS health care and other medical needs.
The organizations will raise money March 6 and 27, and April 3 and 10.
The councils will also have a donation can present at their 5 p.m. Thursday council meetings.
The women of the PHC are sponsoring Ts'Ooana, or Sue as a nickname, from Lesotho, Africa. Sue is four years old and enjoys coloring and attending school, according to the press release.
The PHC will send more than $35.
The IFC is sponsoring Josimar, 4, of Brazil.
Josimar's favorite activities are coloring and playing ball games like basketball and soccer. He collects scraps of metal and debris from the road side to earn pennies to help his family, according to the press release.
The IFC will send $30 a month for Josimar's support.
Anyone on campus can put a check or cash in an envelope with either or both of the children's names on it and turn it into the Office of Student Life.
"PHC and IFC work towards giving back to the Muncie and Ball State community, now we are making a more global philanthropy," the press release said.
