Student Government Association's nomination convention is expected to run smoothly, Elections Chair Marco Pretell-Vazquez said.
The Elections Board met Friday to address any last minute issues before the convention, he said. The board made sure it was unbiased and able to contact each other should a problem arise. It will meet before the convention, Pretell-Vazquez said, and again during to ensure the convention happens as planned.
"It never hurts to have repetition," he said.
Slates will announce their candidacy, turn in their collected signatures, go through eligibility checks and pay a bond, he said.
The bond will be paid back after the election unless the slate violates a campaign rule.
SGA President Frank Hood said he has stayed out of the planning process but has been informed about the Elections Board and no last minute problems have surfaced.
He said he hoped students would show up to the convention to get an idea of who could be representing them and make a better decision when voting.
