Greeks get 'Phired Up' over recruitment

The greek community will come together Sunday at Pruis Hall for a recruitment workshop called Phired Up.

Phired Up is a fun, interactive, experiential education program that helps fraternities and sororities drive higher-quality members into their organizations, according to a press release from the Interfraternity Council. The event focuses on a friends-first, values-based approach to recruiting members through meaningful relationships.

The program started in 2002 and is featured at hundreds of campuses, conferences and chapters.

The workshops have helped other campuses increase recruitment rates by up to 400 percent, Interfraternity Council Vice President of Public Relations Cory Schneider said.

Sunday's visit from the members of Phired Up marks the first time the entire Ball State University greek community has had the opportunity to in sit on the same recruitment workshops, he said.

The workshop will be in three parts with the first being a 90-minute keynote presentation that all members of the greek community are encouraged to attend, Schneider said. After the presentation six members from each IFC and Panhellenic chapters, along with members of the executive chapters, will stay and receive further training and information.
