FOOTBALL: Ball State's Davis, Brewster set to participate in 2009 NFL Scouting Combine

Two players from the 2008 Ball State University football team will participate in the 2009 NFL Scouting Combine this week in Indianapolis.

The combine is similar to a job fair for players entering the year's NFL Draft, which will take place April 25 and 26. The selected players go through drills, tests and interviews that are designed to test the skills needed to play in the NFL.

Nate Davis, quarterback

  • 2008 Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year
  • 2008 All-Mid-American Conference First-Team selection
  • 2008 Manning Award finalist (awarded to nation's best quarterback, including bowl performance)
  • 2008 Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List (awarded to best college football player)
  • 2008 Maxwell Award Watch List (awarded to college football player of the year)
  • 2008 Ball State John Magnabosco Award co-winner (football team's most valuable player)
Robert Brewster, offensive tackle
  • 2007 All-Mid-American Conference First-Team selection
  • 2008 All-Mid-American Conference First-Team selection
  • 2008 Rotary Lombardi Watch List (awarded to college football lineman who performs outstandingly and best exemplifies the discipline of Vince Lombardi)
  • 2008 Outland Trophy Watch List (awarded to best college football interior lineman)
  • Started 46 consecutive games in career
  • Part of offensive line that allowed one sack per game in 2008, which was best in the conference and fourth best in the nation
