FOOTBALL: Analyst says Davis made right decision to enter draft

INDIANAPOLIS - Nate Davis made a good decision to leave the Ball State University football team a year early, NFL.com Senior Columnist Vic Carucci said.

"He picked a good year to get noticed," Carucci said.

Carucci said NFL teams have said this year's quarterback class for the NFL Draft is weak. The conversation generally starts and ends with Matthew Staff of the University of Georgia and Mark Sanchez of the University of Southern California, he said.

Carucci said Davis is still held in high regard because he has two things that cannot be taught: size and strength. Teams are looking for more of a long-term future this year with quarterbacks, Carucci said, meaning Davis could sit on the sidelines a couple years and develop.
