Author to lecture on Atlanta riot

The Ball State University History Department, the Middletown Studies Center and the African American Studies Program invite students to attend a lecture by Gregory Mixon. Mixon will be presenting his new publication "The Atlanta Riot: Race, Class and Violence in a New South City."

The lecture will be at 4 p.m. today in Burkhardt Building Room 101. Following the lecture Mixon will stay for a book signing.

Mixon is the author of other publications, such as "The Making of a Black Political Boss: Henry A. Rucker, 1897-1904" and "The Political Career of Henry A. Rucker: A Survivor in a New South City."

Mixon received his Ph.D. in 1989 at the university of Cincinnati and is currently a professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
