Losing its season opener to a top four ranked team did not hurt the Ball State University men's volleyball team in the coaches poll.
Two days after then-No. 4 Stanford University swept Ball State, the Cardinals remained ranked No. 13 in the coaches poll released Monday afternoon.
Ball State (0-1) received 47 votes - two fewer votes than in last week's poll - to stay at No. 13 for the second consecutive week.
Stanford (5-1, 1-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) jumped up one spot to No. 3, moving ahead of No. 4 Pepperdine University (3-0).
With its win at Worthen Arena, Stanford has four wins against nationally ranked teams in the last two weeks.
In addition to Ball State, two other Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association teams were ranked in the top 15 coaches poll.
Lewis University dropped to No. 12 after its four-games loss to then-No. 9 Brigham Young University, and Ohio State University remained at No. 14 following a three-game loss to Stanford on Friday.
Penn State University maintained the No. 1 ranking in the poll. The Nittany Lions, which only played an exhibition alumnus match last week, received every first-place vote in the coaches poll for the second consecutive week.
Ball State and Penn State will play each other at 7 p.m. Friday in University Park, Pa.
