Former Student Government Association senator Andrea Watts had class D felony charges dropped after a plea meeting, Judi Calhoun, Delaware County deputy prosecutor said Thursday.
Watts' felony charge from a September arrest was dismissed, but other charges and misdemeanors are still pending, Calhoun said.
Watts could not be contacted for interview.
The junior was charged with battery by bodily waste after spitting on Officer Linda Ried, according to a Sept. 3, 2008, police report. Watts was also charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct, class B misdemeanors and had a blood alcohol content of 0.10, according to the same report.
Calhoun said she was aware that Watts, an active SGA member and sorority sister, was punished by Ball State University in some way.
"We're trying to work out the resolution," Calhoun said.
The resolution would involve all victims, including the officers, Calhoun said.
According to the police report, Watts asked Robert Weller, a Ball State University police officer, to not issue a citation for men's volleyball player Matthew McCarthy. McCarthy was talking on his cell phone in the middle of University Avenue with his shirt off after he was drinking, according to the same report.
The officer put McCarthy and Watt's license on the hood of the patrol car, and according to the report, Watts snatched the license from the car.
Weller told Watts to give the license back, but Watts said she did not take the license, according to the report.
After both licenses were found in McCarthy's pocket, Watts did not comply with requests to calm down and was arrested, according to the report.
