DAYWATCH: Student-athletes play college mentor

Local elementary students invaded Worthen Arena this afternoon.

Don't worry, though. No one got hurt. The building is still standing, in one piece, we think.

The students were taking advantage of their chance to have five Ball State University student-athletes as college mentors.

The children, who were in their second of three days with the program, received autographs, asked questions and listened to men's basketball player Eric Wormely read "Swish," a book about - of all things - basketball. The other four student-athletes in attendance were men's basketball player Zach Fields, football player Davyd Jones, lacrosse player Aimee Dietz and Code Red dancer Donisha Carter.

We'll have a story in tomorrow's edition of The Ball State Daily News about the students-athletes' reaction to working with the children Wednesday.
