The Ball State University women's basketball team defeated the University of Richmond 77-71 Monday in Alabama as a part of the Crimson Tide Holiday Classic. Ball State is 7-4 for the season.
Ball State trailed 36-34 at halftime. With 8:41 left in the second half, the Cardinals went ahead 58-57 and held the lead for the rest of the game.
Guard Audrey McDonald led the team with 18 points. Ball State's bench outscored Richmond 21-17 for the game, and 17-2 in the second half.
Ball State will play the University of Alabama in the Crimson Tide Holiday Classic championship game at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
