ESPN.com's Joe Schad reported late Monday night Ball State University is expected to name offensive coordinator Stan Parrish successor to former head football coach Brady Hoke.
The report was published less than six hours after the university announced Hoke's resignation. Hoke is expected to be named the new head football coach at San Diego State University on Tuesday at a press conference scheduled for 4 p.m.
Parrish has served as the offensive coordinator at Ball State since 2005, when Hoke talked him out of retirement to join his staff. He led a Ball State's offense that ranked 11th in country in total offense with 465.7 yards per game and 17th in scoring with 36.6 points per game in 2008.
Parrish also recruited Cardinals quarterback Nate Davis, who finished eighth this year in Heisman Trophy voting. Nate's older brother, Jose Davis, said Sunday there is a 95 percent chance the junior will enter this year's NFL Draft, but retaining Parrish may decrease those chances.
