RHA to discuss changes to meal plans

The Residence Hall Association's General Assembly will meet today to determine the future of Ball State students' meal plans.

RHA will be addressing the possible change from the meal count system currently enacted to a declining balance system, David Hentz, director of RHA coordination and publications relations said.

The declining balance system would work like a bank account. It would include students putting money into a dining account and subtracting that money with each purchase with no limit per meal.

A decision regarding the plan will be made in either late December or early January, Hentz said.

The town-hall style meeting will be followed by a question and answer session for students with concerns about the new system.

The assembly will start at 5 p.m. at the Park Hall multipurpose room.

"We need students to come and let their voices be heard," Hentz said. "[Residence assistants] can only get around to so many people."
