INDIANAPOLIS - The Ball State University men's basketball team lost its fifth straight game to Butler University 64-55 Wednesday in Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Senior forward Anthony Newell led all scorers with 17 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Freshman forward Jarrod Jones had 14 points and 12 rebounds for his second straight double-double.
The Cardinals trailed the Bulldogs by two points at halftime but were unable to withstand a 9-0 run to open the second half by Butler.
Sophomore forward Matt Howard had 15 points and six rebounds to pace the Bulldogs.
Ball State falls to 1-1 on the season, while Butler improves to 2-0.
