Forum to discuss multicultural issues

The Student Government Association's Multicultural Council will hold a forum at 7 p.m. in Pruis Hall titled "What's the Point if No One Hears Me?"

SGA Secretary Ebony Strong said the purpose of the forum is to broaden Ball State University students' minds concerning multicultural issues.

"We wanted to push the idea of multiculturalism as well as make sure students at Ball State know acceptable language and learn more things about different cultures that they may have not known," she said.

Strong said a representative of each gender and race or ethnic group will participate in the forum and each will expose their perspectives toward multiculturalism. She said there will be food and music after the forum.

SGA president Frank Hood said he wants students to participate in the event and hopes the forum has a good turnout.

"I hope people will walk away more enlightened about multicultural issues. Things they had no idea existed or things they thought were OK to say but in reality are not," he said. "I also hope people have the opportunity to express themselves and feel at peace by knowing we are going to listen to their concerns."
