Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian was in the press box working during Ball State University's 45-14 victory against Northern Illinois University.
"I try to go to one or two games a week and this seemed like a great time to see Ball State against a good opponent," he said.
Polian wasn't in attendance to sit and enjoy a football game against two winning teams in the Mid-American Conference. Instead he was scouting potential draft picks for the Colts. While he wouldn't say who he was scouting, he said he thought Ball State was a good football team.
"Real impressive team, certainly deserving of the ranking and it will be interesting to see what happens the rest of the way," Polian said.
He also offered his thoughts on the BCS. He said he doesn't like to dissect the standings each week and prefers to wait until the last couple weeks.
"When you get to the last two weeks which tends to be conference championship week then you look at it," he said. "Then you have the whole body of work to look at."
Come season end, Polian said Ball State, which is ranked No. 17 in the BCS standings, could be looking at a BCS bowl bid.
"I don't know," he said, "we'll see. Boise State made it so I don't see why another non-BCS conference team can't."
