Crowd laughs about sex

Speaker discusses gender issues in comedy presentation

The average male thinks about sex every 53 seconds. The average female thinks about sex once a day.

The average male speaks 7,000 words a day. The average female speaks 20,000 words a day.

Lori Ebert's spoke about these facts in her presentation "Everything you always wanted to know about the opposite sex" Thursday night in front of a packed Pruis Hall.

Ebert said her presentation included what college students want to hear because anybody can get something out of it.

"This program is 100 percent research based infused with a heck of a lot of humor," Ebert said.

Senior Faye Ryan said she saw a similar presentation called "The Date Doctor" at Purdue University and really enjoyed it. She said Ebert's presentation sounded like it would be a similar experience.

"I'm really excited to see her speak," she said. "I think it is going to be a really interesting topic."

Ebert had the audience members involved during the presentation, asking them questions such as what they found most mind boggling about the opposite sex.

She also discussed gender communication, stereotypes and how men and women can overcome challenges to healthy relationships.

According to Campuspeak.com, Ebert is one of the nation's most popular greek keynote speakers. Ebert has been speaking on college campuses since 1997 and has been speaking full time for the past eight years. This fall, Ebert said, she has traveled to 26 campuses.

Ebert said she started this program years ago and realized how much laughter she brought to her audience. The success caused her to begin researching into more information about men and women.

The presentation was sponsored by the Campus Activities Fund Board, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council and the Department of Sociology.
