Ball State University fans can display their pride in the form of an iPod/ iPhone application.
The "Chirper" application was created by student members of the Digital Corps, a group of media software experts at Ball State.
Director of Digital Corps Jonathan Huer said the decision to create the application came from the Ball State football team's success.
"Hopefully, students will enjoy the application and maybe it will help out on a third down a few times," Huer said.
The free application is available through the iTunes store. Huer said in the first 30 hours the "Chirper" was available, it was downloaded 220 times in 28 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Croatia, New Zealand and Australia.
To use the "Chirper", simply hold an iPod or iPhone in the air and shake it. This will generate a chirping sound and color-changing screen.
While this application is a simple one to put together, Huer said, it was a great learning experience for his staff. The Digital Corps will use the knowledge gained from its work with Apple towards other projects.
"One thing we want to roll out soon is a web application that tracks the buses so anyone can look online from any browser or mobile device and know how far the buses are away," Huer said. "This will obviously be helpful once it gets colder."
