WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Cardinals end weekend on high note with win against George Mason

Match was team's finale in TIS Bookstore Indiana University Invitational

BLOOMINGTON - The Ball State University women's volleyball team closed out its weekend in the TIS Bookstore Indiana University Invitational today with a 3-0 win (25-23, 25-23, 25-10) against George Mason University at Indiana's Assembly Hall.

The Cardinals (4-10) finished 1-2 on the weekend after being defeated on Friday by the University of Cincinnati and host Indiana University both by 3-0 scores.

Ball State coach Dave Boos said he was happy to see his team hungry to finish off the match after the first two sets ended in close wins.

"We wanted to end our pre-conference season on a high note, and this is a great note to end on," Boos said. "To get a 3-0 win against this George Mason team is a special feeling for our team."

Ball State was led by junior outside hitter Julie Breivogel with 11 kills. Junior Elaina Kakatolis added eight kills and three blocks for the Cardinals, who had a weekend-high .444 hitting percentage in the third set of today's match.

George Mason (4-9) was led by Rebecca Walter's, who had a team-high eight kills and eight digs.

The Cardinals open up their Mid-American Conference season against Central Michigan Friday night at Worthen Arena.
