Former Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson will discuss housing issues during a speech in the Alumni Center at 7:30 p.m.
Peterson is a resident fellow at Harvard University, and he is a visiting distinguished professor of public policy at Ball State University's Indianapolis Center.
"He will be speaking about mixed-income housing and how affordable housing will revitalize America's core cities and spark economic development," Joseph Losco, chairperson of the Department of Political Science and one of the organizers of the event, said.
Peterson served as the mayor of Indianapolis from 2000 to 2008, when Republican opponent Greg Ballard took office.
Peterson teaches a political science course discussing problems facing metropolitan areas. In the Spring Semester, Peterson will lead a course in the architecture department that will focus on the challenges and opportunities cities deal with regarding the existing city designs.
The speech is sponsored by The Star Press.
