Ball State University's Chris Miller was one of 50 punters from across the nation who were named to the Ray Guy Award watch list Tuesday.
The Greater Augusta Sports Council announced the candidates for the award that honors the nation's top collegiate punter. The list will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists in early November and then to three finalists late in the month. The winner will be announced on Dec. 11.
Miller is one of three Mid-American Conference punters to make the list, which also includes Northern Illinois University's Andy Dittbenner and Miami University's Jake Richardson.
Miller is averaging 42.1 yards per punt in three games this season. The Cardinals' senior finished last year third in the nation in punting average, but he is not among the nation's top 50 so far this season.
Last season Miller was one of the 10 semifinalists for the award, but he did not make the final three.
