Ball State University and the NCAA will join to pay Dante Love's medical bills with two insurance policies, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins said Friday afternoon.Ball State will pay the first $75,000 under the insurance policy it has for student athletes, Collins said. The NCAA will provide an umbrella over the rest of the medical charges, using its catastrophic policy, Collins said.Any expenses stemming from Love's time at Bloomington Hospital, Methodist Hospital and the rehabilitation center in Indianapolis he was sent to today will be covered under the insurance policies, Collins said.Collins said it won't be clear for the next couple weeks what Love's final medical costs will be, but he estimated it will be "in six figures easily."Ball State athletics department, in conjunction with T.I.S., has set up a donation fund with Mutual Federal Bank to help cover charges not included in the two insurance policies, Collins said. T.I.S. is selling "Dante Love" T-shirts with all proceeds going to Love and his family. People can also donate to Love's family through the fund set up with Mutual Federal Bank. For more on this story, see Saturday's special Homecoming edition of The Ball State Daily News.
