The Ball State University cross country team finished the Indiana Intercollegiates strong Friday afternoon, taking third place. In addition, senior Vanessa Gilbert (18:44) led the Cardinals, finishing in 10th place.
The Cardinals' five scoring runners placed in the top 31 of a field of 159. Junior Lisa Arrowsmith (19:07) placed 15th, followed by Sarah Kehe (19:17) in 22nd. Finishing out Ball State's scoring runners were Brittany Ade (19:30) in 28th, and Kelsey Nielsen (19:36) in 31st. Erin Filak competed for the Cardinals as well, finishing in 21:34.
The Indiana Intercollegiate winner was Purdue University, which finished with 106 points. Host Indiana University came in second, followed by the Cardinals. Ball State edged out Indiana State by three points.
The Ball State cross country team will not be competing this weekend but will run again Oct. 3 in South Bend.
