There are not many times when you can give to children in need and ride your motorcycle at the same time.
Anybody with a motorcycle should participate in the toy drive to give Ball Memorial Hospital's Pediatric Unit some toys to get children's minds off their health.
Even if you don't enjoy or ride motorcycles, you should find it in your heart to give somebody an uplifting gift. Maybe some of you remember when you received gifts in the hospital and how it could cheer you up. Or you might not know how special a gift in the hospital might have been.
Because even a simple gift shows someone cares.
You might not be religious, but that shouldn't keep you from giving. The Faith Riders are expressing their religion through their generosity.
And having a Christian motorcycle ministry might sound unusual to some, but these people are doing good for people who need help. So who cares how strange the idea of praising God on a Harley might sound.
Also, you can't blame anyone for combining their two loves of religion and biking to do good for other people.
For those of you with a motorcycle, go give a gift and take a ride.
People could use expensive gas as an excuse, but you don't have to ride your bike to give a toy at the event. You don't even have to have a motorcycle.
If you can give to children, that should make up for the cost of gas. But if it still doesn't, think of it as an opportunity to ride with some fellow motorcycle enthusiasts.
Four people began the ministry on motorcycles in February 2002, and it now consists of 17 chapters across the country.
Pastor Mike Ashby said everybody looks for an excuse to ride. Well, not only make this an excuse to ride but give a tasteful, thoughtful gift. A teddy bear, action figure, doll or toy car would be great for anybody who has trouble thinking of a gift idea.
And if you have a stereotype of bikers, try to look beyond that. Meeting people different from you could give you a different outlook on life. It would probably be a great place to share stories about trips taken or bikes ridden.
So give a teddy bear and ride a bike to bring a smile to a child's face.
