WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: New head coach to be announced 2 p.m. today

The search for the 10th Ball State University women's basketball head coach will end when athletics director Tom Collins announces the hire at a 2 p.m. press conference at Worthen Arena, Sports Information Director Matt McCollester said Monday morning.

McCollester declined to give further detail on the announcement, including whom the new coach was, "primarily because the players will be told after class today."

The vacancy was created when former coach Tracy Roller resigned after being diagnosed with manic depression. Roller, the program's all-time wins leader, had been absent from the team for the entire Mid-American Conference portion of the season, citing a false case of mononucleosis.

One of the coaches in the running was Lisa McDonald, who served as Roller's associate head coach and took over the reins during Roller's absence. McDonald had stated her interest in the job, and both Collins and Roller said they were impressed with the job the first-time head coach did in taking the team over, but it is unclear whether she will be the choice.
