Educational technology instructor Kina Cunningham was talking to friends near an elevator in McKinley Parking Garage when three middle-school-aged children walked by carrying what appeared to be a cinder block.
A few minutes later, Cunningham and her two friends heard a thump come from the top of the parking structure, she said.
"It shattered pretty good when it hit," she said. "We went to all the different exits to catch them. I yelled up at them. We knew they had to come down some time so we tried to block all the exits."
Two boys from the group of minors managed to slip by, Cunningham said, but a girl from the group was cornered.
"She just kind of stood up with her back to the wall," Cunningham said. "She made the comment 'I can't believe they walked off and left me here.' I thought 'You better get new friends.'"
Cunningham said she called the Ball State Police Department.
According to police reports, officers arrived at the scene about 7:30 p.m. An officer caught up to the two boys who had escaped the garage then took all three of the children into custody on charges of criminal recklessness, according to reports.
The witnesses identified the three suspects, two of whom were then released to their parents, according to reports. The third was placed in juvenile detention, according to reports
The suspects caused an estimated $15 of damage during the incident, according to reports.
