MEN'S GOLF: Cards 13th at UK Bluegrass Invitational

The Ball State University men's golf team is in 13th place out of 18 teams at the University of Kentucky Owens/Brewer Invitational.

After 14 holes of play, the tournament's second round was suspended due to poor weather conditions.

"We had brutal weather conditions," head coach Mike Fleck said. "We have a few holes to finish up and then we will go right into the third round."

The remaining four holes and the final round are scheduled for today. Freshman Eric Steger leads all Cardinals and is tied for 19th individually. He shot a first-round score of 77 on the 7,000 yard par 72 Big Blue course. Ball State carded a team-combined score of 320, while leader Western Carolina shot a 305.

"It's hard to tell where we will end up," Fleck said. "The conditions on the field were very challenging and some of the worst I have ever seen since I have been at Ball State. Our players just have to be mentally tough."
