With voting underway for the Ball State University 2008 Student Government Association, there isn't much more the slates can do except wait.
Campus Alliance Presidential candidate Frank Hood said he thought his slate's cumulative experience in student government would help them in Thursday's election.
"I think it's going to be a really close race, but we have a lot of support and our chances are good," he said.
A strong public relations campaign has helped spread the word about the candidates, he said.
"The biggest thing is getting your name out there," he said.
Carrie Cozad, the Campus Alliance vice presidential candidate, said campaigning was hard work.
"We've put time and effort and no sleep into this," she said, "so, I hope it pays off."
Hood said he was eager to learn the election results.
"You never know what's going to happen," he said. "You can't assume a single thing. You just have to wait until it's all said and done."
Mike Andrews, the Andrews-Albritton '08 presidential candidate, said the campaign had gone well for his slate. Now the slate has to play a waiting game, he said.
The slate is still trying to get votes, he said, and it will have speaking engagements the night before the polls close.
Andrews said the weeks of campaigning had been fun but exhausting.
"It's new for us," he said, "but I think we all learned something from it and gained from it."
As for the results of the elections, Andrews said, he would not be surprised if either of the slates running for SGA won.
Andrews-Albritton '08 will depend on support from fraternities and sororities to win in the upcoming election, he said.
Andrews said he has enjoyed his slates' experience of running for SGA, and will be glad to see the week come to an end.
"It's been a long week, and I want to win with all my heart," he said.
