The Ball State University baseball team swept the weekly Mid-American Conference West Division awards Tuesday.
Kolbrin Vitek won the MAC West Pitcher of the Week and Zach Dygert won the MAC West Player of the Week, for their play during the Cardinals' road trip last week.
Vitek went 2-0 with an 0.82 last week, to improve his record to 3-0 on the season. The freshman allowed one run and struck out a Ball State season-high nine batters in six innings against Charleston Southern University. He struck out seven batters against Presbyterian College in five inning of work without allowing a run.
His 16 strike outs added to his team high 26 on the season.
Dygert had a .667 batting average with eight hits in his 12 at bats last week to lead the Cardinals. The catcher had two hits and at least one RBI in each of the four games he started. The sophomore had four walks, two home runs and eight RBIs in the games.
Dygert is tied for second on the team with three home runs and tied for third with 14 RBIs. He has started 12 of the Cardinals' 16 games and has a .289 batting average.
