WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals ready for MAC West showdown

After establishing momentum with a 27-point victory, Ball State University's women's basketball team will attempt to remain in the Mid-American Conference West Division title race.

The Cardinals will travel to Eastern Michigan University for the second matchup with their divisional foe Saturday. With a 8-4 MAC record, the Eagles are tied atop the West Division with Western Michigan University, and both teams are one game ahead of Ball State.

Following its 76-49 home win against the University of Toledo, the Cardinals have now defeated every divisional opponent this season. In its previous meeting, Ball State beat Eastern Michigan 71-64 at Worthen Arena. Saturday's contest will be the Cardinals' second in their final stretch of five games through the MAC West Division, which will conclude the regular season.

In the postgame press conference after Tuesday's win, junior guard Porchia Green said her team is hoping to ride the momentum it generated to close the season on a positive note.

"Our goal is to start being consistent with our wins now," Green said. "We want to do good in the MAC so we can get a good spot going into the MAC Tournament. Right now we're working on one game at a time, being consistent and finishing out the West side 5-0."
