MoTini's comedy crew to perform in Pruis tonight

Six comedians will perform stand-up at "A Night of Comedy" at 8:30 p.m. in Pruis Hall.

Joey Martin, senior telecommunications major, said the comedy program is an extension of his and fellow telecommunications major Ryan Ehresman's weekly stand-up comedy shows at MoTini's. The event will feature pre-selected comedians in order to highlight the best talent on campus and in the state, he said.

"We wanted to pick who we thought were the six best," Martin said. "We wanted to take it to a whole new venue, and we wanted people who could represent us the most professionally."

In addition to stand-up comedy acts, the night will premiere Something Else's first film, "The Last Mullet," on Pruis Hall's big screen and feature performances by Reflex, an improvisational musical theater troupe, Martin said.

Admission is $3, and all proceeds will pay for Ball State University's student actors and comedians to travel to Los Angeles in May, Martin said. The students will have the opportunity to audition before more than 100 national talent agents at the Los Angeles Showcase, he said.

"The money is for our first head start," he said. "It's our first stepping stone, and we'll be able to pay to stay in Los Angeles to schedule interviews if we need to."
