Fresh off a trip to the University of Denver where a season-high score was recorded, the Ball State University gymnastics team returns to Irving Gymnasium ready to set a new high.
The Cardinals scored 189.250 last week and hope to carry that momentum forward to their meet against Eastern Michigan University at 6 p.m.
"Continuing the climb, we're staying positive and, we're getting the girls to keep having goals," Ball State coach Nadalie Walsh said. "... I feel good because I feel we have become more consistent."
Helping to continue the hike will be a couple of young performers. Last week Walsh altered her lineup plugging in transfer Katelyn Busacker, Brittany Bauer, Ashley Jacob and Allyson McGaha into events in which they had not previously competed. The new performers, along with Walsh changing the order of the girls' performances, worked well enough that the coach is sticking with them, she said.
"It's been really good this week to see how it's the same six of seven people who have been doing well," Walsh said. "These girls are starting to trust each other which is really important in gymnastics."
Having gone on the road against a nationally ranked opponent outside of the Mid-American Conference and done well, Walsh said, this meet will be easier for her team.
