TRACK AND FIELD: Cards travel to Bowling Green

Coach expects road competition to be close event

After opening its season at home, the Ball State University women's track and field team travels to Bowling Green, Ohio today for the Bowling Green Quadrangular.

The Cardinals will compete against several regional teams, including the University of Cincinnati.

Although Jan. 11th's BSU Open was a non-scoring event, assistant coach Steve Rajewsky said it helped the team prepare for the season.

"It gave us an opportunity to get some marks and race in a competition," Rajewsky said. "This week we've been able to work on some things from Friday to improve on."

The key to success this year is keeping everyone healthy, Rajewsky said. The Cardinals will be at full strength for today's meet, which Rajewsky said he thinks will be a close contest. He said he expects quality competition from every participant.

After a good week of practice, however, Rajewsky said he is confident in the Cardinals' chances at Bowling Green.

"With the kids we have, it's a good opportunity all across the board to do well," he said. "I think it's going to be a good meet for our team and a good meet for our individuals."
