After already making history with its first winning record in 11 years, Ball State's football program was officially offered its first bowl invitation since 1996 following today's Mid-American Conference Championship Game.
Ball State is set to play Big East opponent Rutgers in the 2008 International Bowl, Ken Hoffman, executive director of both the International Bowl and Motor City Bowl, said from the MAC Championship Game in Detroit. The International Bowl is one of three bowls that includes a program from the Mid-American Conference, and will be played Jan. 5 in Toronto.
"I know it's been some time since Ball State has been in a bowl," Hoffman said. "It's great for that program to now be a participant in the postseason after the great season they've had."
