Despite getting every point from its starting five, Ball State made just enough plays to hang with No. 21-ranked Louisville.
Ball State trailed by five points with 6:19 remaining in the second half, even though the team had two players produce minutes off the bench. Louisville, who played five players earn minutes off its bench, scored 14 unanswered points in the final 5:06 to hand Ball State an 81-62 defeat.
"A lot of it was tired legs," Ball State coach Tracy Roller said of her team's collapse in the final six minutes. "... We obviously feel like this wasn't a 19-point game. We really feel like we let an opportunity go."
Ball State will play its first road game of the season Monday night at Wright State. Ball State beat the Raiders 75-68 at Worthen Arena last season.
