The Muncie Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that was Thursday in the 500 block of Riverside Avenue.
Jim Clevenger, battalion chief for the Muncie Fire Department, said the fire started about 11:30 a.m. There were no reported injuries or damage to nearby houses, he said.
"With these high winds, we were concerned with the neighbor here, as well as [Muncie Liquors]," he said.
The fire was contained mostly to the second story, Clevenger said.
"Luckily, the guys did such a good job," he said. "They just went in and put it out."
Apartment owner Linda Koger, who also owns Muncie Liquors on Wheeling Avenue, said the apartment was unoccupied, but it still had electricity.
"Unbeknownst to me, it still had electricity," Koger said. "I don't know who's paying the bills, but I'm not."
Koger said the age of the house could have caused the fire.
"It could have been some old, faulty wiring," Koger said.
