Registration for the Ball State University annual trivia game College Bowl is extended to Oct. 26 to allow more teams to sign up.
Lorri Markum, office assistant for student programs, said students could register online and download a PDF form. They can bring the form and a $25 entry fee to the L.A. Pittenger Student Center, Room L-20 to register, she said.
"We extended the registration time because people needed more time to get their teams together with Fall Break and everyone is busy," Markum said.
The $25 entry fee provides every participant with T-shirts that include the roster and a list of teams, she said.
She said four teams were registered for College Bowl and each team needs at least four members with a fifth who can be used as an alternate player.
The teams can be composed of undergraduate students and graduate students, but one graduate student per team is allowed and all the participants must be in good academic standing, Markum said.
"We are hoping for a good turnout," she said.
The first place team receives $200, the second place team receives $100 and five individual top players receive $50 dollars each, Markum said.
The top players will be put into one team to make up a regional team, she said.
"Last year 12 teams participated and the year before just under 20 teams participated," Markum said. "Each year we have had at least a dozen."
The event will be at 9 a.m. Nov. 10, and it will be played in a bracket system, Markum said.
Program Coordinator Robin Schreck said if certain teams wanted to play against each other it could be set up that way.
"A sorority can play a fraternity or a residence hall can play a group of friends," Schreck said.
Anyone can participate and the categories are like Trivial Pursuit with sports, entertainment, language, the arts, math and science, Markum said.
Schreck said that the College Bowl was a good time for students.
