Ball State University President Jo Ann Gora led a horde of faculty, staff and friends down McKinley Avenue on Tuesday to kick off the Start Where You Are health initiative.
The McKinley Mile began in LaFollette Field and ended at a health and wellness fair in the Quad where participants were offered blood pressure screenings, information on nutritional counseling, Weight Watchers at Work and the adult fitness program.
The Ball State Working Well program organized Start Where You Are. The six-week program will monitor participants' progress during the 10,000 steps-per-day challenge.
Ball State's colleges will compete against one another and the winning team will receive a trophy.
The program plans to continue adding more programs to improve faculty and staff health at Ball State.
There will be a Weight Watchers at Work orientation Sept. 13 as part of Start Where You Are.
