SVS has biannual Recruitment Fair today

Students can sign up for more than 70 local programs

Ball State University students looking for a way to boost their resum+â-¬s and give back to the community should stop by the Student Voluntary Services Recruitment Fair today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom, SVS President Maggie Bailey said.

The fairs are held every semester to give students the opportunity to learn about the volunteer programs SVS offers and sign up for them, Kyle Johnson, the Student Government Association representative for SVS, said.

This semester's theme is Dr. Seuss, advertising with the slogan "If not you, who?".

"SVS is a great way to meet people and get involved in campus," Johnson said. "It's a lot of fun."

Bailey said 20 volunteer agencies will be at the fair to talk to students about volunteering opportunities.

"That's the most we've ever had at a volunteer recruitment fair," she said.

Organizations such as Minnetrista cultural center, the Muncie Mission, Food Kitchen and the battered women's shelter will come from around Muncie to set up booths at the fair.

In addition, there are more than 50 other agencies students can join through SVS online.

SVS will be giving away tote bags filled with Dr. Seuss prizes every hour, Bailey said. All students that attend may also take a free, miniature Dr. Seuss book while supplies last, she said.

Bailey said snacks and an icy, carbonated drink called "fluffy punch," courtesy of University Banquet and Catering, will be served.
