Same location, new feel

Bella Avanti offers inside, outside seating for traditional Italian food

Good Italian food is always hard to find, but thanks to Bella Avanti, it isn't too difficult to find in Muncie. Bella Avanti, which opened in November, provides dine-in, carryout and catering services.

"We want to give the feel of a fine dining restaurant for a reasonable price," manager Julie Barnes said.

The restaurant has both inside and outside seating, and its small dining room makes for a pleasant dining experience.

"We only have 13 tables inside and six outside, so it gives people more of a fine dining experience," Barnes said.

One of the restaurant's co-owners, Vicki Fischer, owned Psgetti's, which was a carryout restaurant where Bella is located.

"Part of the goal of Bella's is to give people the chance to sit down and eat if they want to," Fischer said.

Many of Psgetti's old customers have come back to support Bella's, Fischer said. Customers from Ball State University are also important to Bella's success, she said. "We have a lot of Ball State students come in to eat," said Barnes.

"We also employ many students; about 95 percent of our staff is from Ball State."

Bella Avanti also boasts a wide selection of gelato, a tasty rich, ice cream-like dessert.

Traditional vanilla, tiramisu and fresh peach are just a few of the flavors offered.

Gelato is sold both inside the restaurant as a dessert and at a stand located outside the restaurant, enabling customers to bypass a meal and just enjoy dessert.
