Kelsey Corbin, director of basketball operations for the Ball State University women's basketball team, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to Delaware County police reports.
Corbin, a three-time women's basketball captain, was arrested at 2:26 a.m. after she registered a 0.10 percent on a blood-alcohol content breath test at the Yorktown Police Department, according to the document. The legal limit for operating a motor vehicle in Indiana is 0.08 percent.
"We are disappointed with this incident and it is not something we condone in our program," coach Tracy Roller said in a statement. "However, we are fully supportive of Kelsey Corbin as she begins her first year on our staff. She understands her responsibility and has learned from this mistake."
Corbin and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins declined comment.
The officer that arrested Corbin pulled her over at State Route 32 and Nebo Road after she went left of center several times westbound on State Route 32, according to the document.
The officer stated that he smelled alcohol on Corbin's breath as she talked and she also failed several sobriety field tests.
She was then taken to the Yorktown Police Department where she failed the breath test, according to the document. She was then arrested and taken to the Delaware County Jail, according to the document.
Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated is a class C misdemeanor in Indiana. The offense is punishable with up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.
Corbin was named as the director of basketball operations on Aug. 1 after playing for Ball State the previous four years. She replaced Monique Govan who took a position at Michigan State University.
Corbin was a team captain each of the last three seasons and started all of the Cardinals games during the time span. The former point guard was second on the team in minutes played last season with 1,005 in 31 games.
Corbin is the only Ball State player to record 1,000 career points, 400 career assists and 400 career rebounds.
The Fort Wayne native received an Honorable Mention All-Mid-American Conference selection as a senior.
She was also second on the team with an average of 12.1 points per game.
During Corbin's senior season, Ball State finished 24-7 and won the MAC West Championship at 13-3.
