Former Ball State University women's volleyball player Rachel Refenes has joined the coaching staff at Lehigh University.
Refenes, who played two seasons at Ball State, was named an assistant coach Aug. 14.
"From the moment I first spoke with her, I knew we would make a great pair. She brings with her an impressive playing repertoire, which will be an excellent addition, " Lehigh head coach Jenny Maurer said in a press release.
Refenes transferred to Ball State before her junior year. In 2005 she was an All-Mid-American Conference First Team member and named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association honorable mention All-American.
Refenes is the first member hired to Maurer's staff. Last season Lehigh was 0-29 and then head coach Amanda Moran left the program.
