Incoming freshmen from six Ohio counties will likely continue to pay in-state tuition to attend Ball State University, Tom Morrison, associate vice president for Human Resources and State Relations, said.
Incoming freshmen from Butler, Darke, Mercer, Preble, Shelby and Van Wert counties in Ohio pay the same as students from Indiana because of the 2004 Ohio Reciprocity Agreement.
The agreement is up for renewal again this year and representatives from all the universities involved and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education and Ohio Regents board met Friday to make minor changes to the agreement, Morrison said.
Indiana University, Ivy Tech State College and Purdue University are among Indiana colleges to offer the tuition price.
The agreement also offers in-state tuition costs to Indiana residents of 12 Indiana counties who attend certain Ohio universities.
Final decisions will be made by the Indiana Commission and Ohio Regents at meetings within the next two months.
Morrison said he is confident the plan will be renewed for another year and that any changes made to the agreement will only affect students who will be freshmen in Fall 2008 and not current students.
